About the role

We're looking for a Database Administrator who is hungry to take what they've learnt to the next level. You will want to work with the latest cloud and AI technologies and apply them to healthcare. You will work alongside the best minds in development on one of Australia's most exciting healthcare products.

You will be responsible for strengthening our data security posture, managing access governance, and designing Azure-based database solutions that meet evolving business needs and compliance requirements.

You will work on various aspects of our products and gain exposure to multiple areas of technology, including AI, data science, mobile development, and backend and frontend technologies.

This role will enable you to be part of a high-growth company and be part of something big This role is located in our office on St George's Terrace, Perth.

The role you will have to play:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain end-to-end security policies and standards for Azure SQL databases
  • Administer database identities, roles, and entitlements using least-privilege principles
  • Perform ongoing security reviews, risk assessments, and vulnerability scanning across Azure SQL environments
  • Design and build database structures, schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, optimised for performance and scalability
  • Partner closely with engineering and application teams to deliver efficient data solutions and integrations
  • Oversee database change control, versioning, and deployment processes
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for security controls, access frameworks, and operational procedures
  • Apply best-practice hardening techniques across Azure SQL configurations and deployments
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain auditing, logging, and diagnostic settings
  • Recommend and evaluate data-platform enhancements, cloud capabilities, and security tooling
  • Provide guidance and training to development teams on secure design and coding practices
  • Support and participate in incident response activities, including database-related forensic investigations

The role will look like this:

Reporting to the Lead Developer, the duties and responsibilities of the Database Application Administrator include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services and APIs
  • Develop new user-facing features using and Angular.
  • Build reusable code, components, and libraries for both front-end and back-end to streamline development.
  • Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality, maintainable code.
  • Optimise both client-side and server-side database performance for maximum scalability and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Ensure the robustness, security, and maintainability of the entire application stack.

With these skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 4+ years' experience as a Database Administrator or in a comparable technical role
  • Advanced expertise with Azure SQL Database (PaaS) and familiarity with SQL Server technologies
  • Strong communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for a range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success working across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to remain effective and adaptable during periods of organisational change, including cloud transformation or insourcing initiatives
