Senior Sql Database Administrator

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic SQL Server Production Support or Developer DBA to join our team.
This position is based in the Perth CBD and will work alongside a team of Senior SQL Server and Oracle DBA's, with opportunity to work from home when applicable. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, support, and security of a large number of SQL Server databases (both on-premise and IaaS/PaaS environments). Training in other technologies such as Data CyberSecurity, Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL will be available. Gaining key vendor certification is encouraged and supported.
The right candidate will:
· Work both independently and part of the Support team.
· Possess excellent customer facing and written skills.
· Work effectively under pressure.
· Liaise with customers, vendors and be able to make technical decisions in accordance with the overall direction provided.
· Be capable of assessing the effort involved with project/BAU tasks and make realistic estimations on their feasibility.
Responsibilities:
· Monitor database system resources and performance ensuring that they meet agreed customer SLA's.
· Action customer Service Requests, and problem/incident management.
· Install, create, configure, upgrade, and monitor databases to ensure optimum performance.
· Evaluate, recommend, manage, and execute patching and upgrades.
· Manage database security and integrity, availability, backup, restore and recovery systems.
· Provide 24 x 7 Database Production Support as needed.
· Undertake customer projects as needed.
· Work effectively as part of a team, share knowledge with other team members, and provide guidance and advice.
General Skills and Experience:
· Strong experience as a production DBA supporting SQL Server database environments.
· Expertise in all major versions of SQL Server and associated technology stacks.
· Performance tuning SQL Server databases.
· Advanced skills in both on premise and cloud (AWS and Azure) DB management
· Advanced skills in HA and replication technologies
· Experience with Windows and Unix / Linux Operating System environments.
· Advanced database problem solving skills.
· Experience in database scripting, automation, and performance monitoring.
· Ability and commitment to working on call after hours as needed.
· Ability and willingness to pick up and apply new technologies.
· Ensure all existing systems are adequately documented to enable support.
· Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable SQL Server Specific Experience:
· Strong experience in complex environments with various data sources and endpoints including on premise SQL Server, Azure managed instances, on premise SSAS, on premise CRM and Azure Dataverse.
· Experience with IaaS environments: Azure, AWS.
· Experience in the design, implementation, management, and testing of High Availability environments that include SQL Clusters, Always-On and AG's.
· Experience in the installation and management of SQL Server Reporting and Integration Services
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
· Certification in SQL Server role based and/or Oracle Database Administration desirable.
