Capacity and Economic Development Manager Cairns
A unique and rewarding opportunity is available for a strategic and community-focused leader to join a leading Indigenous-led organisation dedicated to empowering First Nations communities in North Queensland.
Reporting to the CEO and as part of the senior management team, you will lead a team of four direct reports and play a pivotal role in driving sustainable Indigenous community development in the Lower Gulf of Carpentaria.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver innovative projects that build the capacity of PBCs and Traditional Owner Groups.
- Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies that promote economic participation and regional growth.
- Lead and mentor a team of four Project Officers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
- Engage with stakeholders including Traditional Owners, government agencies, and community partners to drive shared outcomes.
Key Capabilities
- Strong written communication skills, including experience in grant writing, funding submissions, and budget management.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience.
- Ability to align teams with organisational goals and motivate others to achieve collective success.
- Willingness and capacity to travel within the region for up to a week at a time.
