Business Operations Manager – Automotive

Are you an experienced operations leader with a passion for driving efficiency and leading high-performing teams? We're seeking a Business Operations Manager – Automotive to oversee our Freight & Logistics and Credit & Collections functions, ensuring seamless operations across our wholesale automotive business.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager – Wholesale & Buying, you will be responsible for leading critical operational teams and driving process improvements that support the smooth running of our business. You'll play a key role in optimising logistics performance, overseeing credit and collections, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will mentor teams, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and provide insights to senior management while keeping service excellence at the forefront.

Key Responsibilities

Freight & Logistics Management

  • Oversee dynamic inbound and outbound transportation operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of vehicles.
  • Manage relationships with freight providers, 3PL partners, and carriers.
  • Monitor and optimise logistics KPIs, including delivery times, freight costs, and loss/damage rates.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, customs requirements and company policies.

Credit & Collections Oversight

  • Lead the credit and collections team in managing customer credit approvals, monitoring accounts, and receivables collection.
  • Assess credit risk, review aging reports, and implement strategies to reduce overdue accounts.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Sales to balance customer service with credit policy.
  • Support escalation and resolution of delinquent accounts.

Administration & Process Improvement

  • Assist with administrative tasks related to both freight and credit operations, including documentation review, system updates, reporting, and compliance tracking.
  • Ensure accuracy of digital records and paperwork.
  • Drive standardisation of workflows and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure that freight and credit documentation (invoices, PODs, credit applications, etc.) is properly managed and archived in line with company policies.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide mentoring, performance management, and day-to-day leadership for Freight & Credit teams.
  • Set performance goals aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Deliver actionable insights and reports to senior management.
About You
  • 5–7 years' experience in operations management, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Background in the automotive industry (highly desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations and credit/collections processes.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and operational tools.
  • Exceptional organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with strong attention to detail.
