About the Company

Pennae Group is a family-owned investment and operating company with a long history of building and scaling successful businesses. With a focus on both organic and acquisitive growth, we are building a portfolio of businesses in equipment hire, industrial services, and other sectors aligned with our long-term vision.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and commercially astute individual with a strong interest in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and business development. This is a unique opportunity to be directly involved in the end-to-end acquisition lifecycle —from origination to deal execution and post-merger integration—while being mentored by world-renowned M&A expert Adam Coffey.

Responsibilities

Origination & Pipeline Management

  • Research and identify potential acquisition opportunities aligned with Pennae Group's investment strategy.
  • Maintain a structured database/CRM of targets, tracking all outreach activities and relationship history.
  • Prepare market scans and industry mapping reports to identify consolidation opportunities.

Outreach & Relationship Building

  • Conduct direct outreach to vendors, owners, and advisors of target businesses.
  • Maintain regular contact with intermediaries, brokers, and industry networks.
  • Facilitate and coordinate initial meetings between Pennae Group leadership and target businesses.

Transaction Support

  • Prepare high-quality presentations and briefing materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review and analyse financial reports and operating data to support initial evaluations of targets.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing Letters of Intent (LOIs), term sheets, and transaction documents.
  • Support the management of external advisors (legal, tax, accounting, and due diligence providers).
  • Participate in the due diligence process, assisting with the collection, review, and synthesis of information across commercial, financial, operational, and legal streams.

Post-Merger Integration

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of post-merger integration activities.
  • Support workstreams focused on aligning systems, processes, and people.
  • Help track progress of integration initiatives to ensure synergies and value creation are realised.

Board & Advisor Engagement

  • Work closely with the Group CEO, Board, and advisors on active deals.
  • Receive mentorship from Adam Coffey, leveraging his extensive M&A expertise.
  • Incorporate best practices from leading M&A methodologies into Pennae Group's approach.
