Horizon West Landscape & Irrigation is a family owned and operated commercial landscape construction and maintenance company based in Casuarina WA. The company boasts a staff capacity in excess of seventy-five personnel operating across the Perth Metropolitan area.

We are seeking the services of a full time Yardperson to join our team who has a kind approach, and a high level of customer service required to work as part of a dynamic workforce predominantly made up of  young people .

Reporting to the business Managers this role will be required to work Monday to Friday with early starts required and will be responsible for the following:

• Oversee the general organisation and tidiness of our depot, onsite building infrastructure and surrounds.
• Perform small engine maintenance duties for light landscape equipment such as but not limited to chainsaws, brush cutters, blowers, spray packs and trailers.
• Overseeing the recording of new plant & equipment asset coding, undertake  data entry of all maintenance records and organise maintenance scheduling for all other small plant and equipment, not limited to trailers, forklift, small tractor loader, John Deere Gator, and  pressure pumps.
• Notify managers when plant and machinery needs to be replaced, seek quotations  and prepare requisition requests  for any new items as required.
• Oversee and coordinate waste management practices within the deport including the proper sorting and recycling of various waste types into allocated areas, scheduling of skip bin collection and ensuring domestic waste bins are emptied in line with local government waste collection schedules.
• Monitor material storage bay levels, not limited to various mulch types, sand/soils and replenish as required/directed.
• Use of forklift or yard loader to assist with the loading and unloading of goods and materials inwards and outwards for staff members and delivery persons as required and make sure stock is stored in correct areas.
• Perform deliveries and pick-ups as required.
• Assist visitors, staff, contractors, and suppliers to ensure their safe operation within the depot and ensure their needs are met efficiently and in a pleasant manner.
• When requested operate a boom spray unit to undertake onsite and offsite weed control  weed as required.
• Assist with the storage and best practice management of onsite hazardous chemicals and conduct risk assessment inspections as required.
• Monitor seasonal drinking water requirements and schedule deliveries as required to maintain supply.
• Assist with the HSEQ company objectives/targets.
• Follow all policies, procedures, work instructions and complete daily prestart inspections via Horizon West's online portal.
• Participate and/or support the Company in emergency response preparation, exercises, duty roster and in the event of a real emergency as per the requirements of the Company.
• Other general labour duties as assigned.
• Any other maintenance tasks as required by Managers and Director.

Selection Criteria and Knowledge Required:

Mandatory:

• WA Drivers licence – HR/LR
• WA Construction Safety Awareness – White Card
• National Police Clearance
• Be a permanent resident of Perth WA
• Highest level of commitment to safe work practices
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to self-motivate and provide a high level of customer service in a professional, courteous manner.

Desirable:

• Horticultural and/or Landscaping experience and/or qualification in landscape
• Chainsaw Ticket (highly desirable)
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Pest Technician Licence

Physical Requirements:

• Physical strength, to lift and use tools that weigh 3 to 10kg for a sustained period of time (30 minutes);
• Able to push loaded wheelbarrows over a distance greater than two hundred meters;
• Able to lift 20kg from ground to waist/ shoulder height with assistance.
