Tasc (Legal and Social Justice Services) provides free legal, social work, and advocacy services across the Greater South-West Queensland region. With offices in Toowoomba, Ipswich, Goondiwindi, Roma, Hervey Bay, and Gympie, we work to positively impact the communities we serve via an accessible, inclusive, and values-based framework. Our multidisciplinary model of service delivery aims to create the best client experience and outcomes.
The position
Based in Toowoomba, the Communications Specialist is central to the organisation, partnering with the operational leaders to develop a meaningful communications plan for each team that closely aligns with our overall strategy, with the goal of ensuring that our clients and stakeholders know who we are and what we do best.
Responsibilities will include:
• Gathering and generating content to populate our social media, media releases, annual report, website, and other publications;
• Developing materials in consultation with each team that accurately reflect the services they provide;
• Enhancement of internal and external communications systems, in line with our risk management protocols;
• Branding and visual packaging of education and information programs for teams delivering these programs in our community;
• Maintaining basic awareness of changes to relevant legislation to ensure our library of resources and materials can be accurately and responsively adapted in a timely way;
• Identifying, creating and managing other avenues for increasing brand awareness, community engagement, and funding opportunities that align with our organisational goals and values, such as tenders, community events, and fundraising promotions.
You will be based in our Toowoomba office, but regular travel to Ipswich will be required, and occasional travel to our remote office locations. It is currently classified at SCHADS Level 5+, depending on qualifications and experience.
The person
You will take ownership of the plan-build for Tasc's communications strategy, combining your own skills, experience and vision with guidance from the management team.
The ability to consider your work through the lens of client impact is essential. You will hold qualifications in or be studying communications or marketing at a tertiary level, and have recent, relevant experience in a similar role. An understanding of the for-purpose/non-profit sector is essential, and knowledge of or experience within Community Legal is highly desirable. You must be eligible to hold Positive Notice for Working with Children, and Disability Services clearances (mandatory criminal history screening).

A positive attitude, the ability to value and respect each person for their contributions to the team, professionalism, resilience and a genuine desire to achieve better outcomes for clients facing adversity are highly desirable. The ability to work in a trauma-informed practice framework is essential.
