About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team at the Domestic Violence Action Centre. This position is integral to our mission, supporting individuals and families affected by domestic and family violence within our local community.

As a Domestic and Family Violence Specialist (Housing Connector), you will provide trauma informed case management services to adults and children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to domestic and family violence and play a vital role in developing strong partnerships to enhance domestic, family, and sexual violence prevention efforts across the Toowoomba region.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide purposeful person-centered case management and advocacy for people that are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to domestic and family violence
  • Provide mobile outreach services, implement trauma-informed risk assessments, safety planning, provision of crisis support, information and referral.
  • Facilitate group programs, workshops, and education sessions to support survivors.
  • Promote best practice and safety across all areas of work, ensuring compliance with legislation and organisational policies.
  • Work in partnership with multi-agency responses to individuals and families; assist people to access resources, opportunities and services within the community to promote safety and housing stability

Qualifications, Skills & Requirements

  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification or bring experience in a similar role, demonstrating the skills and insight needed to thrive in this position.
  • Experience working in the domestic and family violence sector
  • Strong community engagement and training facilitation skills
  • A deep understanding of feminist frameworks, trauma-informed practice and complex dynamics of domestic and family violence
  • Excellent public speaking and advocacy skills
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Working with Children Check {Blue Card}
  • Driver's License
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients

All DVAC staff are required to undergo a National Police Check upon successful offer of position.
