The island is one of the closest Whitsunday islands to the mainland (Airlie Beach) with spectacular 30-minute ferry ride to work each day.

Description:

The Business Development Manager for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and groups is pivotal in identifying, nurturing, and converting potential leads into successful events. This role demands a proactive approach in cultivating relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and individuals seeking exceptional venues. You will leverage market insights, exceptional communication skills, and a strategic mindset to expand the organisation's footprint in the MICE market.

  • Implement an effective lead management system, with prompt, professional follow-up on all enquiries, received through the website, third-party platforms, and other channels to optimise conversion rates.
  • Maintain and update Salesforce for accurate pipeline management.
  • Prepare accurate quotes and negotiate contracts to secure business, ensuring compliance with resort policies.
  • Establish and grow relationships with agencies, corporate clients and event planners through networking and industry events.
  • Conduct market research and monitor consumer trends to shape effective sales and marketing campaigns. .
  • Monitor performance of sales initiatives and adjust strategies to meet targets.
  • Liaise closely with internal departments (e.g., event planning, Food & Beverage, Front Office) to guarantee seamless execution of events.

Skills and Experiences:

About you

  • Previous sales experience in a similar hotel or resort environment advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a polished, professional presentation.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to remain effective under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, customer service and organisation skills.
  • Competent in Salesforce (Delphi) is an advantage.
