We are looking for a Safety & Security Advisor to achieve and maintain high standards of occupational health, safety and security across Nyaal Banyul, Geelong Convention and Event Centre. This position will play an important role in supporting event and organisational security planning, contractor compliance monitoring, emergency preparedness implementation, and occupational health and safety systems in accordance with ISO45001 standards.

  • Assist with OHS induction and training program delivery for staff, contractors, and event organisers
  • Chair the OH&S Committee, ensuring as a minimum, meetings are held bi-monthly
  • Support the maintenance of the Event Security Matrix and Security Operations Manual, including annual reviews
  • Deliver comprehensive event briefings and support event security with compilation of security briefings
  • Assist with rehabilitation and return to work processes for injured workers in collaboration with the People & Culture team
  • Establish and maintain contact with the injured worker to encourage them to actively participate in the development of the rehabilitation program.
  • Oversee contractor management, including conducting audits and inspections of high-risk work areas and operational activities that can cause illness and injury and ensure the performance and effectiveness of relevant operational controls

About you

  • Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Security Risk Management, or Public Safety and Certificate IV in Security
  • Formal qualification in Return to Work, High Risk Work and Risk Mitigation
  • Demonstrated experience in both the security and safety industries, ideally in complex operational environments
  • Strong understanding of OHS legislation and safety management systems (e.g., ISO45001)
  • Experience in emergency management, incident investigation and hazard identification
