Working to protect the state's environment and heritage.

About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Senior Project Officer to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with the initiative, ability, and desire to work in a small, dynamic, and productive team. Previous achievement in delivering ICT or systems projects within a natural resources or emergency management setting will be highly regarded. An understanding of incident resourcing and some public sector knowledge would be desirable.

About You

As a Senior Project Officer, you will be responsible for planning, approvals, internal and external stakeholder engagement, procurement, budget management, contract and staff supervision and delivering systems within required deadlines and to quality standards. Strong attention to detail, ensuring governance across incident and project management will be key to your success in this role.

You'll be adept in providing high level specialist advice and information to stakeholders on emerging project issues and to lead project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy objectives and project priorities.

You will have the ability to undertake procurement and contract management, including liaison with internal ICT staff and contractor supervision of ICT projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
  • Project management skills and experience with an understanding of contemporary best practice in procurement, tendering and contract preparation, in managing project teams, consultants and contractors, and in applying environmental safety and risk management policies and systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategic plans, policies and programs, and in providing strategic and operational advice and recommendations to senior management.
