The Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Advisory Committee is an 18-person committee with the following composition:

  • 1 independent chair
  • 9 Aboriginal representatives from the Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Aboriginal Advisory Group
  • 2 landholders (leaseholders) within the World Heritage property with 2 proxies (Please indicate when nominating which two are the primary members and which two are the proxies)
  • 3 scientific representatives
  • 1 tourism representative
  • 1 local government representative
  • 1 NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service Regional Advisory Committee representative.

Members and the chair of the committee are appointed for a term of 3 years.

The NSW Government is inviting applications for the Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Advisory Committee. Applications are now open for:

  • An independent chair
  • Two World Heritage landholder (leaseholder) representatives (plus 2 proxies - please indicate when nominating which two are the primary members and which two are the proxies)
  • Three scientific representatives to be members of the Willandra Lakes Region Area World Heritage Advisory Committee.
  • One tourism representative

Separate processes identify representatives from the Aboriginal Advisory Group and Local Government.

The Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Advisory Committee gives advice to responsible agencies and ministers regarding the identification, protection, conservation, presentation and transmission to future generations, of the Outstanding Universal Value of the Willandra Lakes Region World Heritage Property.

Members are appointed by the NSW Minister for the Environment, with the Chair jointly appointed by both NSW and Australian Government ministers.
