About The Role & Team

Provide cultural support and guidance on the three-year, NIAA-funded First Nations Nutrition Workforce – Good Food People Program, designed to improve health outcomes in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

This program supports the development of a culturally responsive nutrition workforce to enhance healthy retailing practices across ALPA's store network, including Island and Cape, Independent Stores, Outback Stores, and Community Enterprise Queensland.

This role will provide cultural guidance and community engagement support in the development and implementation of the Nutrition Workforce Program. The position will work alongside and take direction from the Nutrition Workforce Manager.

As our First Nations Consultant, here's what your day-to-day might look like

  • Support the design and delivery of the Nutrition Workforce Program.
  • Support culturally safe community engagement communication strategies for the Nutrition Workforce Program.
  • Advise the Nutrition Workforce team on resource development & internal/external messaging
  • Provide mentoring and support to the Good Food People trainees.
  • Advise and contribute to the evaluation of the Nutrition Workforce Program.

About You

  • Identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
  • Communicates effectively across cultures and diverse communities
  • An understanding of population health and public health measures in remote Indigenous communities.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in remote communities.
