Lead the Future of Fleet Management at Whitsunday Regional Council

Are you a dynamic and experienced fleet management professional ready to lead a high-performing team? We are seeking a motivated Coordinator Fleet Services to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in delivering strategic and operational excellence across Council's Fleet and Plant Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the strategic and operational management of Fleet and Plant Services, including mechanical workshops, lifecycle planning, procurement, compliance, and service delivery.
  2. Manage the replacement, maintenance, and repair of all Council-owned fleet, plant, and equipment.
  3. Drive alignment with Council's Asset Management Plan, ensuring long-term sustainability and financial planning.
  4. Develop and oversee annual budgets, plant replacement programs, and relevant policies and procedures.
  5. Provide expert advice on fleet utilisation, procurement models, and capital investment strategies.
  6. Ensure contract and performance management of internal and external providers meets value-for-money and compliance expectations.
  7. Champion innovation through digital fleet systems, emissions reduction initiatives, and adoption of emerging technologies.
  8. Monitor and manage insurance claims, asset data accuracy, compliance with transport regulations, and fleet registration requirements.
  9. Lead cross-departmental collaboration to optimise fleet deployment and ensure service continuity.
  10. Represent Council in regional forums to identify best practices and benchmark performance.

Your skills and experience:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Asset Management or Business Administration.
  2. Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale fleet operations, strategic planning, and contract management within a complex organisational environment.
  3. High-level analytical, financial, and project management skills, including experience in developing business cases and managing large budgets.
  4. Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities, with a proven ability to influence and drive organisational change.
  5. Extensive knowledge of fleet and plant industry, including current industry trends, reforms and legislation.
  6. Extensive experience in managing mechanical workshops and service delivery teams.
  7. Proven asset management experience in mobile fleet operations, including lifecycle planning and performance monitoring.
  8. Well-developed skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  9. Possession of a current C Class "Manual" Drivers Licence.
