Principal Adviser (Gender Impact Project Lead)

  • Salary: $138,631 - $185,518 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term role: until October 2027
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)

The Role

The Principal Adviser in the Office of the Deputy Secretary leads the DJSIR Gender Impact Analysis project, leading a project team of SMEs from across the department to uplift the department's capability, systems and performance with respect to its obligations under the Gender Equality Act and the Financial Management Act.

The responsibilities of the Principal Advisor will include:

  • Lead and undertake the Gender Impact Assessment uplift project at the direction of the Deputy Secretary.
  • Provide high level authoritative policy and strategic advice to the Deputy Secretary, and Senior Executives on complex and sensitive matters relating to the portfolios for which the Deputy Secretary is responsible and other issues as directed by the Deputy Secretary.
  • Coordinate and lead Group-wide processes in relation to Public Accounts and Estimates Committee Questions, Parliamentary Questions, Freedom of Information, high level reports, briefings, Ministerial requests and Cabinet Submissions.

The Team

The position of Principal Adviser forms a part of the Office of the Deputy Secretary within the Economic Policy, Programs and Services group.

Economic Policy, Programs and Services Group (EPPS) supports delivery of sustainable economic development and employment growth for Victoria. The Group supports DJSIR's delivery of strategic priorities through the entirety of the policy and project lifecycle, by providing leadership and expertise in policy design, research, analysis and advice, project management, delivery and evaluation.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally heave the following skills and experience:

  • Project management: Employ best-practice project management disciplines to lead a project team to address to deliver the Gender Impact project, delivering quality outcomes with available resources within agreed timelines, ensuring risks are appropriately managed.
  • Policy nous: Design, oversee and conduct data analysis, evidence collation and stakeholder interviews to analyse complex problems, formulate findings, provide authoritative advice and make reasoned recommendations towards achieving the desired outcomes of the Gender Impact project.
  • Conceptual and Analytical Ability: Ability to use conceptual thinking and sound analytical approaches to support decision-making. Identifies patterns and relationships in complex systems and communicates them in clear ways.
