Primary objective
The Senior Teacher Early Learning is responsible for maximising student outcomes through leadership and a strong understanding of the
needs of students from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds. The Senior Teacher will use their skills to create a calm, predictable and
safe learning environment to support the achievement of optimal educational outcomes for all Preschool students.
Context statement
Bradshaw Primary School is located in Alice Springs and serves a student body of approximately 430 students from preschool to year 6.
Bradshaw Primary School caters for students from diverse backgrounds with a large number of Aboriginal and second language families.
Scarborough's Reading Rope guides Bradshaw's literacy framework. The successful applicant will be familiar with assessments (e.g.,
DIBELS) and interventions that are in alignment with Scarborough's Reading Rope. They will also be familiar with RTI and MTSS models
of interventions and assessment and Read Write Inc.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage Preschool teaching and support staff in accordance with Departmental and school policies.
2. Utilise data to target the implementation of curriculum, behaviour and wellbeing programs within a team to ensure impact on student
outcomes.
3. Address the educational, well-being and social needs of Preschool students, in alignment with the Early Years Learning Framework,
National Quality Standards, and the school's key focus areas of Literacy Development and School Wide Positive Behaviour.
4. Be an effective member of the school leadership team to provide effective leadership and management in accordance with the school's
strategic direction and as a member of that team oversee staff, programs and partnerships operating within the Preschool, while
undertaking appropriate teaching load.
- Work closely with Special Education Teacher to identify students with special needs and program to provide necessary adjustments.
- Co-ordinate effective communications between students, parents/carers, teachers, and other support staff, school management and
other relevant bodies.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Registration with the NT Teacher Registration Board, ACECQA approved early childhood qualification, and a current Ochre Card or
the ability to obtain.
2. Proven ability to work within a cross-cultural school environment, interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and
successfully develop effective partnerships with parents and the community.
3. Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum, NQS, EYLF, SWPBS, and high-quality teaching and learning practices and the
demonstrated ability to apply this to improve student wellbeing and academic outcomes.
4. Proven team leadership, interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to apply negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to promote positive relationships with staff, students, parents and the community to improve student academic
outcomes through effective wellbeing strategies and the creation of a calm, predictable and safe learning environment.
6. Willingness to build and understanding of and implement the school's literacy and language framework.
7. Demonstrated skills in human resource management and fiscal management as it relates to the management of a cohort of students.
