Data Scientist

The Data Scientist leads the data science discovery process for the Claims Automation project. By interpreting historic claims and claims suspension data, the Data Science Specialist will uncover insights and transform them into actionable strategies and recommendations to support claims automation, claims classification, and the claims segmentation.
Responsibilities
- Establish and implement a data science and analytics strategy for the claims automation project: Design a robust framework that supports the program's goals, setting clear objectives and KPIs to measure success and guide continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the member services, Technology and Data Science teams to develop and automate claims processing rules.
- Use data insights to support and enhance ongoing straight through processing initiatives: Leverage insights derived from data analysis and modelling to drive personalised claiming efforts, ensuring that members receive relevant and impactful communications.
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders across and beyond the Data Science team: Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating open communication and collaboration to achieve the program's objectives.
- Implement data-driven engagement strategies in collaboration with stakeholders: Work alongside stakeholders to translate analytical insights into practical strategies that enhance claims processing efforts, and enhance member experience.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports that inform decision-making: Generate detailed and insightful reports that provide actionable recommendations, supporting strategic decision-making and driving continuous improvement
- Perform work in a manner that complies with relevant regulatory standards including Work Health & Safety (WHS) legislation
Essential Skills
- Tertiary qualifications in mathematical, statistical, computer science, or relevant post-graduate qualifications
- Strong experience in the delivery of business efficiency analytics.
- Must possess high attention to detail, can-do attitude and solution focused.
- Strong written and oral communications skills, particularly in the preparation of presentations and reporting documents.
- Strong presentation and influencing skills.
- Experience in Private Health Insurance
- Excellent organisational abilities, ability to multi-task, and work under pressure.
- Passionate and target-driven.
