This is a unique Lead Data Scientist opening with a market leader in the e-commerce industry You'll join a collaborative broader data & analytics team of ~15, and will primarily be hands-on leading data science and AI work. You will also play a role in mentoring and as the team grows, lead a small data science squad.

What tools and data stack is in place?

  • Modern ML / Data environment including: Python, SQL, GCP, BigQuery, VertexAI and more
  • Preference includes prior experience in GCP data & ML tools, but we can consider strong candidates with equivalent experience such as using Databricks or Sagemaker for production ML
  • You will also be involved in Generative AI solutions, so we are keen to find someone who has been involved in various GenAI / LLM / agentic solutions

What experience and skills are mandatory?

  • As a Lead Data Scientist (or Principal Data Scientist or Data Science Team Lead), you will have over 7 years of professional data science & ML experience, with recent years as the technical lead on end-to-end machine learning projects.
  • Ideally you will have 2-3 years mentoring and leading small data science teams and (projects ranging from 1-5 people)
  • Strong Python, SQL, Statistics, Predictive Modelling and MLOps skills - including involvement with productionising solutions, setting up measurement and monitoring
  • End-to-end data science experience – from translating questions & problems into experiments and POCs, through to deployment
  • Strong communication skills with both data peers and business stakeholders
  • Academic background in a field such as; Maths, Stats, Computer Science, Actuarial Studies, Astrophysics, ML or AI
