About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist with strong expertise in financial crime detection and prevention to join our growing analytics team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with financial crime platforms such as BAE NetReveal, leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning, and data-driven insights to identify fraudulent activity, enhance detection models, and reduce risk exposure.
This role will partner closely with compliance, fraud operations, and technology teams to design and implement data solutions that strengthen our financial crime strategy.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop, enhance, and optimize financial crime detection models (fraud, AML, sanctions screening, KYC) using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
· Configure and optimize NetReveal and similar platforms to improve alert generation, prioritization, and false-positive reduction.
· Translate business requirements into data science solutions, including use case development, feature engineering, and algorithm design.
· Collaborate with compliance, fraud operations, and technology teams to operationalize models into production environments.
· Analyze large, complex datasets to uncover patterns of suspicious behavior and emerging risks.
· Conduct model validation, performance monitoring, and back-testing to ensure accuracy, compliance, and explainability.
· Generate insightful dashboards and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders, including senior management and regulators.
· Stay current on regulatory requirements (AML/CTF, FATF guidelines, etc.) and integrate compliance needs into model development.
· Support ongoing innovation in financial crime analytics by researching and applying new AI/ML approaches.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
· Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Scientist/Analyst in financial services, focusing on financial crime (AML, fraud, sanctions, transaction monitoring).
· Hands-on expertise with NetReveal (BAE Systems) or similar platforms (Actimize, FICO, SAS AML, etc.).
· Strong proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and big data frameworks (Hadoop, Spark, etc.).
· Experience with machine learning algorithms (classification, clustering, anomaly detection, NLP).
· Solid understanding of data modeling, feature engineering, and statistical methods.
· Familiarity with financial crime regulations, typologies, and compliance frameworks.
· Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
· Experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for model deployment.
· Knowledge of graph analytics and network analysis for fraud/AML investigations.
· Exposure to explainable AI (XAI) and model governance frameworks.
· Strong presentation skills with ability to translate technical findings into business insights.
Why Join Us?
· Opportunity to work on cutting-edge financial crime prevention initiatives.
