About Us:

DCC Industry Group is dedicated to enriching lives through our key divisions: Youth & Communities, Foster and Kinship Care, Workforce, Allied Health, and Disability Services. Our goal is to provide services that empower individuals across all stages of life, supporting their well-being and personal growth in every aspect of their journey.

About the Role:

As the Services Team Leader, you will lead the Foster and Kinship Care team to ensure the effective recruitment, assessment, training, and ongoing support of foster and kinship carers. This role ensures that the program operates in alignment with the Department's Statement of Standards and DCC Industry Group's values, maintaining compliance with licensing and quality frameworks. The Team Leader provides professional supervision, drives continuous improvement, and fosters collaborative relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders. This role will play a key part in upholding the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld), embedding the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle (ATSICPP), Child Safe Standards and Universal Principle and ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and cultural connection of every child in care.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Provide professional supervision and daily support to Foster and Kinship Case Practitioners, guiding high-quality, trauma-informed service delivery and complex case planning.
  • Oversee timely completion of all carer assessments (initial approvals, reviews, re-approvals), ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational standards, and maintain accurate documentation to meet Department of Child Safety licensing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carer families, offering training, ongoing support, and addressing concerns to promote retention and confidence in their caregiving roles.
  • Liaise regularly with Child Safety Placement Support Services to coordinate appropriate child placements and ensure all placement documentation is accurate, complete, and legally compliant.
  • Contribute to team planning, performance development, and continuous improvement initiatives, including policy development, quality assurance, and inter-agency collaboration to enhance outcomes for children and carers.
  • Represent the organisation at community and sector forums, advocating for the needs of carers and children, while promoting the organisation's vision and values.

What's On Offer:

  • Permanent, full-time employment
  • Set roster – Monday to Friday
  • $110,000 salary plus super
  • Company car provided
  • Career growth and progression
  • Access to Employee Assistance Program

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in child protection.
  • Strong knowledge of Queensland's legislative and policy framework in foster and kinship care.
  • Proven experience working in or alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise a team in a community services setting.
  • Skilled in conducting foster carer assessments and providing support strategies, including behaviour and stress management.
  • A valid police check
  • Ability to obtain a Blue Card
  • Ability to obtain LCS2 Clearance

Cultural Consideration:

This position is prioritised for applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, in recognition of the vital importance of cultural knowledge, lived experience, and community connection in foster care delivery. This is a genuine occupational requirement under Section 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld). Non-Indigenous applicants may be considered in subsequent recruitment rounds if no suitable Indigenous candidates are identified initially.
