About the role
This Occupational Therapist role at the Australian Nursing Home Foundation Limited will be responsible for providing manual handling training and support to the nursing staff. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of both patients and staff through the implementation of effective manual handling practices.
- This role is offered on an ongoing part-time basis for 3 days per week, 8 hours per day.
- This role involves travelling across all major ANHF facilities in the Sydney Metropolitan area.
What you'll be doing
- Develop and deliver comprehensive manual handling training programs for care staff
- Assess current manual handling practices and identify areas for improvement
- Provide on-site support and guidance to staff to ensure correct techniques are being used
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of manual handling training and make adjustments as needed
- Collaborate with the clinical team to identify equipment and environmental modifications to enhance manual handling
- Maintain detailed records and provide regular reports on training activities and outcomes
- Stay up-to-date with the latest manual handling regulations and best practices
What we're looking for
- Degree in Occupational Therapy with current AHPRA registration
- Demonstrated experience in delivering manual handling education or training in a clinical or aged care setting.
- Experience in conducting functional assessments and equipment prescription.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and manual handling best practices.
- Strong training and facilitation skills with the ability to engage and educate staff
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with the nursing team
- Proactive, pragmatic approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
- Adaptable and able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Proactive, organised, and able to manage competing priorities.
- Computer literacy, including knowledge and competency in basic Microsoft applications.
- Experience working with culturally and Linguistically Diverse populations.
- Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
- Current Police Check with no disclosable outcomes that preclude working in aged care.
- Valid Driver's Licence (as this role requires travelling to all ANHF work sites).
