The Purpose of the Microenterprise Development Manager role

Microenterprise Development Managers are critical to helping Many Rivers achieve it's Mission and Objectives by supporting microenterprise development within an identified region through business coaching and support to eligible clients.

Responsibilities of the role:

Networking and Business Development

  • Build strong and trusted networks with related organisations and associations in the region, including mutual referral of business.
  • Establish and build commercial relationships with Indigenous and community leaders in the region, and establish, develop and promote the credibility of Many Rivers' services.
  • Collaborate with the relevant Many Rivers Community Economic Development Manager in the region to identify opportunities to work together.
  • Meet with existing and/or new referral sources to determine if the potential client can journey with Many Rivers.
  • Discuss other methods to market Many Rivers and establish networks in region with the Regional Manager and Business Development team.
  • Assess client's motivation, capacity, and determination to start, stay and thrive in their business.
  • Meet annual KPI targets set by MED Management Team ensuring quality of journey for all clients.

Business Journey

  • Support new and existing micro and small businesses through one-on-one business coaching with business planning, cashflow projections, and marketing etc to ensure the business starts, stays and thrives.
  • Utilise the Many Rivers policies, processes and Business Products to assist clients to analyse, develop and plan their business.
  • Regularly visit all clients to ensure they are provided with one-on-one coaching optimising the ratio of client contact time with travel time and cost.
  • Assist clients to understand the key requirements of managing a small business by establishing a Business Plan.
  • Maintain effective client relationships across the area of responsibility ensuring all clients have access to coaching services.
  • Respond to client concerns or complaints regarding Many Rivers service.
  • Ensure that any disclosures relating to Vulnerable People are reported according to Many Rivers policy.
  • Accurately document the client contact and business journey into Client Management System (CRM). Use the Client Management System (CRM) to manage all clients.
  • Manage the graduation and ceasing of client journey's as required.

Loan and Product Support

  • Where identified and assessed, manage and provide loan finance support and pro bono legal services to the client.
  • Assist clients with loan applications, ensure a responsible lending approach and prepare for and attend internal Credit Committees.
  • Alongside our Client and Community Support team, work with our clients to ensure loan management and loan repayments.
  • Ensure appropriate process and support is in place for clients who may have challenges servicing loan repayments.

Many Rivers Policies and Processes

  • Ensure conduct is aligned to the Many Rivers Code of Conduct.
  • Conduct the work of a MED Manager within the boundaries of Many Rivers' policies and processes.
  • Manage work practices and travel schedule to ensure health, safety and sustainability.
  • Work within the approved operational budget of the region and in accordance with the Many Rivers Expenses Policy.
  • Ensure that Many Rivers Work Health and Safety responsibilities are followed.

Professional Development

  • Implement ongoing personal and professional development strategies and plans to improve job performance and work relationships as agreed with reporting manager.
  • Actively participate in weekly feedback and review process.
  • Actively and positively participate in Many Rivers' review of business and individual performance.
  • Attend, participate and positively contribute to the Many Rivers Annual Conference.
  • Ensure all required Many Rivers training is completed.

MED Managers work in field and from home. All tools of trade are provided (Laptop, Phone, Vehicle etc). Intraregional travel is a fundamental component of the role and essential to successfully meeting the KPIs of the role. There may also be reasonable additional duties from time to time.

  • Demonstrated ability to have challenging/difficult conversations with clients, the ability to ask tough questions.
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills, including ability to develop and deliver presentations internally and externally.
  • Self motivated to work to and achieve targets whilst also delivering quality.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Competent in using multiple technological platforms (MS Office suite, video conferencing etc)
