The Shire of Ashburton is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager Strategic Waste to lead the development and delivery of innovative waste management strategies across the region. Based in Onslow, this role offers a rare opportunity to combine meaningful work with an enviable lifestyle - rent-free accommodation with ocean views and access to world-class fishing and water activities.
As the Manager Strategic Waste, you'll be responsible for the strategic direction and operational performance of the Shire's waste services, with a focus on the Pilbara Regional Waste Management Facility (PRWMF). You'll lead a team delivering essential services across landfill, transfer stations, and kerbside collection, while driving sustainability, compliance, and innovation.
The PRWMF is the only Class IV facility North of the Perth metropolitan area, making this a unique opportunity to manage a regionally significant operation.

Strategic planning and integration of waste operations across the Shire
Project delivery aligned with the Shire's Strategic Waste Management Plan
Business development opportunities, particularly with mining and decommissioning industries
Safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible waste practices
What You'll Bring
Formal qualifications in waste management, environmental science, engineering, or equivalent experience
Extensive leadership experience in complex waste operations
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and Class IV waste facilities
