Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, rotating day and night shift, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

We are recruiting Mining Operators for Excavator and Dozer crews at GEMCO. These roles will see you safely execute operations activities through operating equipment in accordance with GEMCO standards and operating procedures.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

  • Execute the production mining and/or development activities according to the production plan
  • Effective communication of equipment status to pit control
  • Adhere to defined standard procedures and apply safe work practices
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all incidents and hazards
  • Promote safety and improvement culture through effective leadership

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Experience working in mining operations
  • Experience operating any/all of the following machines in a Mining Production environment:
  • Large Excavator C 2600 and above
  • Loader 992 and above
  • Grader and Dozer CAT D10 / D11
  • Champion a safety focused culture, conducting risk -assessments and following change management procedures
  • Able to relocate yourself to Darwin or Cairns if successful

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Current C Class driver license (manual)
