About the role:

The School Partnerships and Engagement Leader is responsible for leading stakeholder relationship management within the High School Program (HSP), with a strong focus on building and sustaining effective partnerships with schools, students, and parents/carers. The role ensures clear communication, culturally safe engagement, and timely interventions to maximise student participation and success.

In addition, the position leads student recruitment, re-engagement initiatives, and tailored support planning for disengaged participants, while maintaining strong alignment between school partners and Aurora's program delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the HSP Senior Manager to design and implement a School Partner Recruitment and Engagement Plan that strengthens collaboration and alignment with program objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partner schools and parents/carers to support student participation and success.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for partner schools and community stakeholders, ensuring clear and responsive communication.
  • Collect and respond to feedback from stakeholders, including parent/carers, schools, and suppliers
  • Coordinate the recruitment and onboarding of Elders and foster strong, ongoing relationships that support program delivery and cultural integrity
  • Build and maintain relationships with local Indigenous organisations to increase delivery of culturally grounded sessions across program activities (e.g. overnight camps and one-day engagements)
  • Support the HSP Senior Manager to design and refine the Student Recruitment Plan, ensuring alignment with program objectives
  • Collaborate with the Delivery Manager to lead the implementation of the Recruitment Plan, with clearly defined and supported roles for Community Engagement Facilitators.
  • Plan and coordinate recruitment campaigns and school outreach activities to build awareness and interest in the program
  • Represent Aurora at key school and community events to strengthen local networks and partnerships
  • Work with the Monitoring & Evaluation team to collect, analyse and respond to stakeholder feedback post-activities
  • Track school engagement, student attendance, and re-engagement efforts to inform reporting and continuous improvement

About you:

  • Demonstrated experience working in or alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in culturally safe and respectful ways
  • Experience supporting disengaged young people through case management, wellbeing planning, or student support frameworks
  • Proven track record in school, family, or community engagement roles
  • Strong understanding of culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Clear and adaptable communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High attention to detail with the ability to track actions, timelines, and follow-ups
  • Ability to work independently and proactively while contributing to a collaborative team environment
  • Adaptable and solutions-oriented mindset, with a calm and confident approach under pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and CRM systems such as Dynamics
  • Background in education, youth work, social work, or a related discipline (Desirable)
  • Experience working in complex stakeholder environments with competing priorities (Desirable)
  • Strong facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution capabilities (Desirable)
  • Experience planning or contributing to school engagement events, cultural forums, or student recruitment activities (Desirable)
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a great driving record
