About Marist Schools Australia
Marist Schools Australia Limited (MSA) draws together 57 Catholic school communities which shape their identity and mission through the spirituality and educational approach that was introduced into the Church by St Marcellin Champagnat. Within this family of schools, 12 are governed by MSA, while the others either have a shared governance arrangement or have partnership agreements that allow MSA to work collaboratively with the schools' diocesan governing authorities.
MSA provides its member schools with leadership, support and governance in order that they can continue to be authentic Marist educational communities. A priority of MSA is to nurture the faith and spirituality of today's Marists, many of whom belong to the Marist Association of St Marcellin Champagnat – the spiritual family that owns and animates MSA.
MSA is seeking an experienced senior leader with a deep commitment to Catholic education within the Church's mission to take up the role of National Director and to steward the mission by placing the needs of students, educators and communities at the centre MSA's vision.
About the Opportunity
The National Director is a pivotal role that works in collaboration with the MSA Board, MSA Executive Team, and those who have partnership agreements with MSA in the leadership, stewardship and management of Marist schools.
The National Director leads the development and support of schools so that they can be authentically Marist in their spirituality, culture and educational policies and practices. In doing so, the National Director actively engages with other leaders of the Australian Church, peak education authorities and government representatives.
The National Director exemplifies a leadership style grounded in Marian principles, instilling this as a characteristic feature of all who support MSA schools. Furthermore, the role of National Director is critical in the animation of Marian discipleship and ecclesiology across Marist schools and in the Church more broadly.
In collaboration with the MSA Executive Team, the National Director leads in ways that allow those with executive-level responsibility to be effective leaders and managers in their respective areas and to work cohesively with one another.
For those schools where MSA has a governance role, the National Director works with the Regional Directors and other MSA staff to ensure sound canonical and civil stewardship in areas such as strategic planning, staff formation, student learning outcomes and achievement, school improvement processes, school reviews, financial oversight, employee relations, and an effective governance, risk and compliance framework.
