ABOUT THE ROLE:
This position is a strategic dual-role ideal for a professional with both technical and client-facing capabilities. It encompasses dedicated Key Account Management for a high-value Oil & Gas sector client, and the coordination of Operations for major infrastructure and water-related projects across Australia.
Based in Brisbane, Queensland, this role suits a results-driven professional with a background in civil engineering, project delivery expertise and stakeholder management skills. You will work at the intersection of engineering, client management, and operational excellence, helping shape the future of sustainable water infrastructure in Australia.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Account Management (O&G/Infrastructure Client):
- Serve as the primary technical and strategic liaison for one of our major clients within the Oil & Gas sector, ensuring the successful delivery of complex civil and water infrastructure projects.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities within QLD's industrial and municipal sectors, including mining, oil & gas, and utilities.
- Lead the development of tailored technical solutions and project strategies in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Build strong relationships with key decision-makers and technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment of project goals with AWSA's sustainable engineering practices.
- Monitor project performance, cost-efficiency, and compliance with engineering standards, reporting regularly to the client and internal teams.
- Explore opportunities for expanding project scope through value-added engineering and service innovation.
Operations Coordination (Major Projects – Australia):
- Coordinate and oversee the execution of civil and water treatment projects for major accounts nationwide, ensuring compliance with scope, budget, and timelines.
- Liaise with project managers, site engineers, and operational teams to ensure successful delivery of civil infrastructure and treatment plant operations.
- Develop and standardise best-practice procedures for construction, commissioning, and operations of treatment systems and hydraulic structures.
- Address operational risks and technical issues with agility, implementing corrective actions in collaboration with engineering and field teams.
- Monitor KPIs across project portfolios, including construction progress, asset performance, and contract compliance.
- Ensure robust communication and integration between the engineering, commercial, and client service functions to uphold SLAs and contractual obligations.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (e.g., Environmental Engineering).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in managing infrastructure projects with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in water treatment, transport infrastructure, or large-scale industrial projects is highly desirable.
- Strong commercial understanding of contracts, project economics, and client engagement.
- Professional Engineering registration (RPEQ or equivalent) will be highly regarded.
Skills and Competencies
- Proven success in leading civil engineering projects, from design to commissioning and operations.
- Solid experience with stakeholder coordination in highly regulated environments.
- Strong technical writing, reporting, and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a client-first mindset.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Willingness to travel for site visits, client meetings, and project oversight (approx. 25–30%).
