Role Overview:

We're looking for a B2B sales professional familiar with startups, SMEs, or investor ecosystems. You'll drive client acquisition across recruitment and partnerships, with support from marketing and delivery teams. You'll work closely with our Director, Chief of Staff, and Marketing Manager. This role is ideal for someone early in their BD career ready to grow into a senior position.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Business Development (70% of your time)

  • Support new business development across recruitment and partnerships, helping build and manage a sales pipeline.
  • Participate in client meetings, proposal preparation, and negotiations with guidance from the team.
  • Work toward meeting revenue targets with team support.

Partnerships & Ecosystem Engagement (15% of your time)

  • Help secure sponsors and collaborators for events and memberships.
  • Represent Australiance at networking events to build leads and visibility.
  • Assist the marketing manager in developing relationships with VCs, accelerators, etc.

Client Success & Growth (10% of your time)

  • Help maintain client relationships to drive retention and referrals.
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities with internal team collaboration.
  • Ensure smooth service delivery for a great client experience.

Marketing Expansion & Strategic Input (5% of your time)

  • Support outreach to companies expanding in Australia, France, and Africa.
  • Assist the marketing manager in organising events and ecosystem activities in secondary markets.
  • Share insights to improve service offerings and targeting.

Must Have:

  • 4–5 years' experience in B2B sales, business development, or partnerships, preferably in professional services, consulting, or recruitment.
  • Some experience managing a sales pipeline or contributing to sales efforts, with a desire to meet and exceed targets.
  • Familiarity with startup and SME ecosystems; experience engaging with founders, accelerators, VCs, or community organisations is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable in client-facing conversations.
  • Eagerness to develop confidence in pitching, negotiating, and relationship-building.
  • Organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently while collaborating with the team.
  • Comfortable and enjoys attending networking events and engaging with diverse professional audiences.
  • Full working rights in Australia (citizenship or unrestricted visa)
  • Available to start mid-July 2025
  • Able to work from our Sydney CBD office 3 days per week (hybrid model)

Nice to Have:

  • Experience selling recruitment, events, memberships, or consulting services.
  • An existing network within the Sydney startup or investor community.
  • Interest or exposure to international business, such as market entry or cross-border expansion.
  • Previous experience working with early-stage startups or entrepreneurial teams.
  • A passion for learning about startup ecosystems and building meaningful professional relationships.
