The SunRice Group is more than just rice. We're a global FMCG powerhouse, proudly listed on the ASX, with a portfolio of over 35 major brands and a presence across the United States, the Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. From our Sydney CBD headquarters, we champion innovation, sustainability, and customer focus — and we're looking for a strategic thinker to help us navigate the complex world of government relations.
About the role
As Government Affairs Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping SunRice's engagement with government and industry stakeholders. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs, you'll lead advocacy efforts, influence policy, and ensure our voice is heard on issues that matter — from water policy and rice vesting to international market access and regional manufacturing.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading SunRice's government engagement strategy across local, state, and federal levels.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with ministers, advisers, departmental officials, and industry bodies.
- Advising on policy developments and their impact on SunRice's operations and strategic direction.
- Supporting advocacy efforts on key issues including the NSW Government's reviews on vesting and export agreements.
- Developing policy positions that support the long-term sustainability of the Australian rice industry.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to align messaging and influence outcomes.
About You
You're a confident communicator, a strategic thinker, and a natural relationship builder. You understand the intersection of business and policy, and you know how to navigate complex government landscapes to deliver results.
We're looking for someone with:
- A tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Policy, Law, or a related field.
- 5+ years' experience in government, corporate affairs, or media engagement.
- Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
- A proactive, curious mindset with a passion for continuous learning.
