Lead Civil Engineer - Bulk Water
Want to bring ideas to life?
As an engineer you're no doubt aware of Aurecon – we've been a leading design, engineering and advisory company for decades. But why should you choose to join us?
Every project Aurecon delivers leaves a legacy. Every project has sustainability embedded in decision making. And every project is at the leading-edge of technical eminence.
But it really comes down to one, crucial question: what kind of world do you want to create for the next generation? Truth is, the decisions being made right now will determine the future of everything – from the local community to the entire planet. One of those decisions is: who do you decide to work for?
How will your ideas contribute to shaping what's next?
As a Lead Civil Engineer (Bulk Water) joining our NSW & ACT Water Utilities Team, you will play an integral part in a highly skilled team to engineer resilient and sustainable water infrastructure solutions.
We know the work we do is vital in assisting our world's economic development and, it's the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart.
In your new role you will:
- Lead successful multi-disciplinary teams to deliver challenging and complex water and wastewater concept and detailed design projects for our clients including Sydney Water, Hunter Water, Icon Water, and State and Federal Governments
- Lead the civil design and hydraulic analysis of water and wastewater network infrastructure including pipelines and pumping stations
- Produce and champion the delivery of high-quality technical outputs to meet client expectations including design documents, reports, specifications and presentations
- Apply your communication and leadership skills to lead effective conversations with our clients and stakeholders to solve their complex issues in a technically-sound and commercially viable manner.
Foster a culture of continuous learning by providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members as well as a commitment to your own ongoing learning and professional development.
Develop and maintain strong internal and external networks and lead business development opportunities including tender responses.
How will your future be shaped by us?
Joining Aurecon means you'll be at the award-winning edge of innovation and sustainability. The Australian Financial Review AFR ranked us Top 5 among sustainability leaders and Top 3 of all innovative companies in professional services. One Consult awarded us an innovative design award. Plus, we were Consult Australia's large firm of the year.
You really can bring your whole self to work and be confident your voice will be heard. We don't just claim we're inclusive and innovative, as proven by the independent awards and accreditations we've gained. We've been recognised for our innovation culture, gender equality and our LGBTI+ inclusion. Plus, we have a robust Reconciliation Action Plan – our fourth edition since 2014.
What can you bring to the team?
Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future.
We value that each of our team members brings something different to Aurecon. We look for people who have had a broad range of experiences throughout their career and can demonstrate how they have worked as part of a team to bring ideas to life.
As well as experience in a similar position, on a technical level you will also have:
- A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered status with Engineers Australia (or ability to obtain)
- Extensive design experience working on water and wastewater infrastructure projects including pipelines and pump stations
- Knowledge of Australian water industry standards and codes
- Experience in design software packages with AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience highly desirable

Additionally, you will showcase your strong internal and external stakeholder management experience, a can-do attitude and importantly a strong team player who works well in an agile and collaborative environment.
Our
Aurecon Attributes
describe the types of people we bring together for clients. We don't expect you to have all eight of the attributes, but one that is unique to you.

Aurecon's strength has always been our people. It's our people who build our shared purpose and bring ideas to life. It's our people who imagine and co-create with our clients a better future for people and the planet. Of course, you'll probably know lots of our award-winning projects.
