Design Lead Engineer, Water Infrastructure - EOI

The opportunity

The opportunity We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design Lead Engineer to join our Water Infrastructure team in Sydney. This role is pivotal in leading the design and technical delivery of major infrastructure projects, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, reservoirs, and network upgrades. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver large-scale water infrastructure projects from concept through to construction.
  • Oversee technical design development, ensuring compliance with project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Coordinate inputs from engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Manage design risks, scope changes, and ensure quality assurance through independent reviews.
  • Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and approvals.
  • Prepare and present design documentation, reports, and progress updates.
About you

You bring proven experience leading design teams on water infrastructure / treatment facility design and delivery projects with a bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).

  • Strong understanding of Australian water industry standards and Sydney Water requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CPEng) or working towards it is highly desirable.
