About the Role

The Customer Response Branch champions community education, safety, and amenity across the Sunshine Coast region. As part of the team, the Prosecutions and Reviews Lead plays a key role in coordinating legal prosecutions and tribunal matters, overseeing reviewable decisions and providing legal advice to internal stakeholders.

Primarily, you will:

· Coordinate an effective and efficient prosecutions and reviews program to ensure compliance with Council's Local Laws and other relevant State and Federal legislation;

· Representing and appearing in Court for council as appropriate in accordance with council's internal procedures;

· Scheduling and coordinating court or tribunal matters, including officer attendance as required;

· Coordinate the prosecution, review and investigation of matters subject to council control to ensure compliance with council's Compliance and Enforcement Policy and that matters are dealt with at a level desired by council.

· Provide subject matter expertise, advice and support to internal stakeholders when there is a need to collect evidence, supervise and coordinate the preparation of prosecutions, enforcements, infringements and court action.

· Ability to participate in an on-call roster, including after-hours and weekends, with all work performed remotely from home.

About you

Your experience in the legal profession will be foundational in this role, but it's your interest to develop a strong community through legal leadership that will set you apart.

As someone who will liaise and advocate on behalf of Council, you will need to be confident and articulate in all aspects of communication. You will have demonstrated ability in decision making as well as experience in the processes and representation of legal matters.

As a requirement of this role, you will possess a degree level qualification in Law. A Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (GDLP) and a current practicing certificate are highly desirable.

Appointment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a Criminal History Check.
