The Junior Accounts Officer plays a key role in supporting the finance team by assisting with day-to-day accounting

tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external

regulations. This entry-level position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in accounting and finance within

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Process invoices, purchase orders, and payment run
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts

Bank Reconciliation:

  • Assist with daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies

Financial Reporting:

  • Support the preparation of monthly financial reports
  • Maintain accurate records in accounting systems

Data Entry & Record Keeping:

  • Enter financial transactions into accounting software
  • Maintain organised filing systems for financial documents

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding payments and queries
  • Provide administrative support to the finance team

Compliance & Audit Support:

  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant legislation
  • Ad-hoc duties, as directed.

JOB COMPETENCIES:

Attention to detail: Ability to accurately process financial data, identify discrepancies, and ensure

records are complete.

Numerical Proficiency: Comfort and skill in working with numbers, including performing calculations,

interpreting financial data and using accounting software. A strong foundation

in numeracy supports effective decision-making and financial analysis.

Analytical Thinking: Capacity to assess financial information, spot trends or irregularities, and

propose logical solutions.

Communication Skills: Ability to clearly convey financial information to both finance and non-finance

stakeholders, and to professionally liaise with suppliers, clients, and internal teams.

Time Management: Skilled in prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines, and managing workload

efficiently—especially during reporting periods or when handling multiple

accounts.

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or working towards)
  • One or more years of office experience in a professional environment
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. MYOB, Xero, or SAP) exposure to Pronto is

highly regarded/

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role
