About the role
As the Senior Manager, Data Engineering at Mable, you'll own our Data Intelligence Platform and lead a team of Data Engineers to build and maintain a scalable, accurate source of truth in Databricks
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll deliver alongside your team of 2, mentor them in best practices, and manage key relationships with system owners and vendors
You'll play a pivotal role in shaping how Mable and the broader Attain Group harness the power of data. You'll lead a talented Data Engineering team and set the vision, strategy, and priorities that turn complex data into meaningful insights and real-world impact. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor a high-performing Data Engineering function inspiring excellence and setting clear direction across multiple squads. Own the strategy and roadmap for Mable's Data Intelligence Platform, ensuring it evolves to meet the growing needs of our analytics, product, and operational teams. Design and build data pipelines that ingest, cleanse, transform, and model information from multiple systems for downstream use and visualisation. Partner with senior and executive leaders across Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, Business Systems, and Analytics to align data capabilities with business goals. Embed robust governance and stewardship, maintaining the highest standards of data quality, security, lineage, and compliance. Manage the platform's financial performance, optimising cost efficiency and shaping future investment decisions. Champion innovation, exploring new tools and technologies to boost reliability, productivity, and business value. Foster a culture of curiosity and collaboration, empowering your team and peers to deliver impactful data solutions. Ensure compliance with privacy and security policies across all data activities. Skills and Experience Proven leadership experience - you've led and developed high-performing Data Engineering teams and love seeing your people grow. Technical depth - skilled in ingesting, cleaning, transforming, and modelling data from both batch and streaming sources for use by Analysts and Data Scientists. Exceptional communicator - able to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders. Cloud expertise - experienced in developing, deploying, and monitoring modern, cloud-based data solutions. Data modelling mastery - strong grasp of Dimensional Modelling and handling Slowly Changing Dimensions. Growth mindset - comfortable with ambiguity, pace, and the challenges that come with scaling a high-growth business. Bonus points for Advanced education in a relevant field such as computer science, information technology or analytics Experience working with Databricks and AWS Experience in Python; in particular PySpark and Spark Streaming Experience using GIT We're powered by purpose
