About the role

We're growing our data engineering practice and looking for a
Senior Data Engineer
who can design, build, and ship modern data platforms,
Snowflake (priority)
and
Microsoft Fabric,
with
Databricks
as a nice-to-have. You'll be hands-on with code and also lead small project squads: shaping scope, running stand-ups, keeping RAID logs tight, and ensuring we land business value with zero surprises.

What you'll do

Design & build:

  • Scalable data models and pipelines on
    Snowflake
    and/or
    Microsoft Fabric
    (OneLake, Lakehouse, Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Semantic Models).
  • Implement
    dbt
    transformations (tests, docs, exposures) and enforce best practices (modularity, lineage, CI checks).
  • Stand up reliable
    CI/CD
    for data (Git, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions; environments, approvals, artifacts).
  • Optimise performance & cost:
  • Snowflake virtual warehouses, caching, clustering, query tuning;
  • Fabric capacities & pipeline runtimes.
  • Orchestrate jobs via Fabric Pipelines/ADF/Airflow; secrets management via Key Vault.

Lead delivery
:

  • Plan iterations, run ceremonies, manage scope & risks, maintain
    RAID
    , and report progress to stakeholders.
  • Partner with architects/consultants on solution design, estimation, and statements of work; demo increments to exec and business users.
  • Uphold
    engineering excellence
    : code reviews, documentation, patterns, re-usable components and templates.
  • Ensure
    security & governance
    : RLS/column security, PII handling, Purview/lineage where applicable.

What you'll bring

  • 5–10+ years
    in data engineering with strong consulting or enterprise delivery experience.
  • Deep hands-on with
    Snowflake
    (warehouses, roles, tasks/streams, performance and cost tuning) and/
    or
    Microsoft Fabric
    (Lakehouse, Pipelines, Semantic Models).
  • Solid
    CI/CD
    for data projects (branching strategies, environment promotion, automated tests).
  • Comfortable with
    SQL
    (advanced),
    Python
    (ETL/ELT, utilities), and cloud storage/file formats (Parquet/Delta/Iceberg).
  • Experience leading project workstreams or small teams: sprint planning, stakeholder comms, status reporting, risk management.
  • Attention to detail
    : you catch data edge cases, naming inconsistencies, and schema drift before they bite.
  • Excellent communication: you can explain trade-offs to both engineers and business leaders.

  • Proven dbt/Coalesce expertise (models, macros, packages, testing, docs) in production.
  • Data governance & lineage (Purview), security patterns (RLS/CLS, masking).
  • Testing/observability tools (Great Expectations, Soda, Monte Carlo/Revefi).
  • BI familiarity (Power BI/Tableau) and semantic modelling (DAX/Tabular).
  • Experience in presales/estimation and contributing to SOWs.
