  • Apply your expertise in restorative justice to create positive change and outcomes for young people in our care.
  • Promote healthy relationships by developing constructive communication between young people and operational staff.
  • VPS4 role earning $97,995-$111,142 per year, plus super.
  • Relocation allowance available for Cherry Creek.

Victoria's youth justice custodial services aim to reduce reoffending and give young people the skills to make the most of their lives when they return to the community. Doing this work well makes Victoria a safer place to live.

Working within a broader team focused on improving rehabilitations and outcomes for justice-involved young people, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining restorative practice and developing capacity across our youth justice custodial precincts at Parkville in metro Melbourne and Cherry Creek near Werribee.

With regular updates to the leadership team and key stakeholders, your work will make an important contribution to how we evolve future policy, program development and achievements in line with departmental initiatives.

To be successful in the role, you will have experience in and sound knowledge of restorative practices, principles and processes, preparing and facilitating group meetings including in circumstances involving conflict, and building workforce expertise and practice capability. You will also bring experience working in mediation, social work, community work, and/or the criminal justice system.

Qualifications:

  • A current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card will need to be provided prior to employment.
  • A tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, human services, criminal justice or related field is desirable.

For more information on the skills and experience that we are looking for in our new team members, please read the job description attached.
