General Manager (Operations) - Swift Transport Services As 2IC to the Directors, this crucial, long-term role will involve overseeing operations, human resources, finance, and customer service. Delegation of responsibilities and collaboration across all facets of the business. Ultimately, lead a team toward maximum productivity and efficiency to drive growth within the business.

Your core mandate is to build a high-performing and engaged team, driving productivity, efficiency, and growth while maintaining excellent service and compliance.

Objectives of this Role

• Develop strategic plans for optimised productivity

• Review and improve organisational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivated work environment, and creating innovative approaches for improvement

• Uphold standards of excellence and foster a culture of quality service

• Seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships

• Provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas

Responsibilities

Operational & Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement strategic plans to optimise productivity and efficiency.

• Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure alignment with business objectives.

• Lead performance reviews and operational improvement initiatives.

People & Performance Management

• Lead, mentor, and support a team in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment.

• Recruit, onboard, and develop high-performing employees to achieve targets.

• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Commercial & Client Management

• Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular engagement.

• Identify new business opportunities and oversee the delivery of customer solutions.

• Monitor profitability, budgets, and cost efficiency across business units.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

• Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards, including CoR and incident reporting.

• Manage data collection and reporting to drive performance metrics.

• Collaborate with finance, legal, and safety teams to maintain compliance and best practices.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience in operations, logistics, or transport leadership roles.

• Strong understanding of HR, finance, and customer service within a business environment.

• Demonstrated success in leading teams and improving performance outcomes.

• Ability to manage budgets, implement strategic plans, and achieve operational goals.

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
