About the role:

The Senior Policy Advisor supports the development and implementation of funding policy reforms within Hospital Victoria.

The role involves conducting research and providing advice on a range of health funding programs and policies, drawing on a mix of policy and data analysis skills. This position will also support other key divisional priorities.

About you:

To be succesful in this role it is required you have the following capabilities

  • Planning and Project Management - Sets clearly defined objectives and priorities and operates accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required; identifies processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal; establishes systems and procedures to guide work and track progress; recognises actual and potential barriers and finds effective ways to deal with them.
  • Problem Solving - Seeks all relevant information for problem-solving; liaises with stakeholders; analyses issues from different perspectives and draws sound inferences from information available; identifies and proposes workable solutions to problems; implements solutions, evaluates effectiveness and adjusts actions as required.
  • Policy Skills - Formulates and communicates public policy options and recommendations; keeps up-to-date with a broad range of contemporary issues; scans for links and potential implications of proposed policy options; liaises with stakeholders.

Qualifications:

A tertiary qualification in fields related to health, science, economics, or public administration would be desirable.

Specialist Expertise:

A sound understanding of the Victorian health system, demonstrated knowledge of relevant government legislation and ability to use Microsoft Office products would be beneficial.
