The Department of Treasury and Finance provides economic, financial and resource management advice to help the Victorian Government deliver its policies. We strive for excellence in financial and economic management to improve the lives of all Victorians.
Industrial Relations Victoria (IRV) provides strategic industrial relations legislative, policy and technical advice to Government and departments. IRV engages with Victorian employers, employees and their representatives to support a positive industrial relations environment, and advocate for fair and productive workplaces, secure work and gender pay equity. IRV also oversees industrial relations matters and enterprise bargaining policy and processes across the Victorian public sector.
IRV consists of the Private Sector Industrial Relations branch, the Public Sector Industrial Relations branch and the Office of the Deputy Secretary.
Public Sector Industrial Relations oversees enterprise bargaining across the Victorian public sector. It is responsible for implementing the Government's public sector industrial relations policies and assisting departments and agencies with industrial relations matters and enterprise bargaining.It is also responsible for advancing the Government gender equality initiatives in the building and construction sector.
Reporting to the Technical Specialist - Building and Construction, the Senior Adviser - Building and Construction will focus on supporting the delivery of the Victorian Government's eight year Building Equitable Futures Strategy , which seeks to create training and employment opportunities for women in the building and construction sector. It builds on the foundational work commenced under the Women in Construction Strategy which expired in 2022.
Key accountabilities
- Provide high level strategic and expert advice to Ministers and senior DTF staff on gender equity issues affecting the building and construction sector.
- Assist in the implementation of policies, programs and initiatives to achieve the Government's priorities set out in the Building Equitable Futures Strategy .
- Prepare time sensitive, high quality ministerial briefs, written reports and correspondence on gender equity.
- Develop and maintain networks and relationships with key external and Government stakeholders regarding gender equity issues.
- Assist in representing the Department and the Victorian Government in meetings, conferences and seminars.
- Participate in cross-functional projects across government that seek the promotion of a positive workplace culture to address gender equity issues and reforms.
Experience and qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification in public policy or similar is highly desirable.
- Current knowledge and experience in gender equity issues in the building and construction sector with a specific focus on the education and training sector would be highly regarded.
