On 1 January 2026 five health services (Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service) will come together to create Bayside Health. A newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians.

The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

What You Will Be Doing

The Prequalification Allied Health Professional (AHP) works as a grade 2 Allied Health Assistant (AHA) and assists Allied Health Professionals in the provision of best practice patient centred clinical care and further supports smooth Allied Health operations through non-clinical duties. This role requires working with a person-centred approach to provide efficient and safe care within a defined scope of practice. Therapy may be provided as individual patient sessions or in a group format. The role also performs administrative and other support functions within the service they are employed, including maintaining equipment stock, ordering and cleaning.

What You Need

• Currently completing final year studies in an allied health profession

• A strong interest in working in a hospital or public health setting

• A sound understanding of AHA scope of practice

• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

• Demonstrated capacity to be flexible and respond positively to change

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

• Previous experience in an AHA role

• Experience working in acute or sub-acute inpatient setting
