About the role

As the Coordinator Community Partnerships and Inclusion you will drive inclusive, safe and connected communities. The role will promote and support an understanding and respect for First Nations and multicultural communities, and support dialogue and collaboration between diverse groups.

The Coordinator Community Partnerships and Inclusion will oversee Council's Community Grant program, build trust and strengthen community relationships to increase community partnerships and connectedness, and improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the Knox community.

The role will also focus on leading the delivery of programs aimed at addressing social issues including alcohol and gambling, community safety, social connection and inclusion and developing community partnerships. This role works closely with Victoria Police, key agencies, business, community organisations, and residents to identify and address these issues by local solutions.

The role is central to influencing and shaping organisational policy, plans and projects to consider the distinct and complex needs of key portfolio areas to create environments where all community members feel safe and included.

This is a full time permanent role based at the Knox Civic Centre in Wantirna South. We support flexible working while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 8 classified role, remuneration will be $129, $145, depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

What you will bring to this role

The key selection criteria for this role are:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health Promotion, Community Development or extensive and diverse experience in another specialist field or similar role in Local Government.
  • Experience and understanding of managing a grant program utilising best practice guidelines.
  • Extensive experience in working collaboratively across sectors and disciplines, fostering partnerships to address the diversity of community needs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complexity of social problems that intersect and impact on community health and wellbeing and safety.
  • Proficient in utilising research to implement evidence-based, data-driven strategies and projects, with the aim of enhancing community safety and health and wellbeing outcomes for the Knox community.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing effective partnerships with community organisations and stakeholders with the ability to communicate clearly and with influence.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work responsively at a high level in a complex and fast-paced environment, with competing priorities.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to identify issues and develop innovative solutions to complex community challenges.
  • A commitment to excellence, with a practical and results focused approach and the ability to lead a high performing team.
  • Extensive experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating community programs and initiatives.
