Kennedys is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate, with 5 years' + PQE, to join our Insurance team based in our vibrant Sydney office.

Working closely with one of our specialist Partners, Llinos Kent , this is a unique opportunity for an experienced lawyer to gain hands-on exposure to a mixture of contentious and non-contentious coverage matters across numerous insurance lines. Llinos is currently acting for over 20 insurers in a complex financial lines coverage dispute, which the successful candidate would be involved in. The role will include the day-to-day handling of insurance litigation matters for a range of professionals (for example, financial, construction, brokers, real estate, directors and officers) in Supreme Court and Federal Court proceedings.

The team in Sydney have extensive experience across multiple lines of insurance work, with a particular depth of expertise in professional indemnity, financial institutions, directors' and officers' (D&O), medical malpractice, public and product liability, property and construction, energy, cyber, marine, transport and employment.

You will join team of highly experienced Special Counsel, fellow Senior Associates & Associates whilst receiving first-class support from our dedicated Paralegals and Legal Secretaries – enabling you to thrive in the fast-paced world of insurance law.

Who We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years' experience, with relevant defendant experience from a reputable insurance team
  • Ability to run with matters autonomously under supervision
  • You will possess excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate the proven ability to manage your own time with excellent organisation skills and strong attention to detail
  • High level of professionalism and integrity; displaying the highest standard of professional ethics
  • Flexible attitude towards working practices and ability to adapt style as required
  • A natural team player ready to assist and support colleagues where necessary
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with a genuine desire to further your career at Kennedys
