About The Role

The Project Officer (Research) will be directly supervised by the Research Manager (Derbarl Yerrigan), with indirect supervision and guidance from the Maawit Maladjiny Project Coordinator (Edith Cowan University). This will be a Maximum term Full-time role which expires 2 years from the successful applicant's start date. Opportunity to discuss potential Part Time Employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine eligibility of potential babies for recruitment into the trial.
• Contact families to gauge their interest in participating.
• Explain the project to families, obtain consent, and collect demographic information.
• Deliver study materials and follow up with participants via phone calls at designated times.
• Liaise with supporting staff at CAHS-CH for recruitment and retention.
• Assist with recruitment and retention efforts by maintaining regular contact with families.
• Locate families and collaborate with the Recruitment Officer, Retention Officer, and CCD
• Workers to ensure return visits for child health checks and CCD program delivery.
• Support caregivers in maintaining engagement with the study and addressing any challenges they face in participation.
• Ensure adherence to study protocols, data collection procedures, and ethical guidelines.
• Work closely with project stakeholders to support the implementation of CCD training and ensure consistent program delivery.

SELECTION CRITERIAQualifications

• Relevant experience or qualification in project coordination, child health, or a related field.

Experience, Skills And Abilities

• Experience working with Aboriginal families.
• Ability to undertake CCD program training and apply learned methodologies consistently.
• Experience in data collection and reporting.
• Ability to work autonomously with timelines.
• Well-developed communication and liaison skills.
• Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including caregivers, healthcare workers, and researchers.

Desirable

• Previous experience working in research studies or public health projects.
• Familiarity with child development and community health initiatives.
• Experience in facilitating community engagement and recruitment for research trials.

Appointment Pre-requisites

• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander pursuant to Section 50D of the Equal Employment Opportunities Act (Essential).
• Current Working with Children Check.
• Satisfactory National Police Clearance that is not older than 6 months.
• Valid Drivers' License and willingness to travel as required.
• Successful Pre-employment Health assessment.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
