The Darebin RSL is one of the leading RSL's in the northern suburbs with 5,000+ members, 220 seat full-service bistro and a sports bar. We are looking for an enthusiastic staff member to join a fun hardworking kitchen team.

We are offering a Full-Time position with a salary package between $70,000 -$72,000plus superannuation, with 5 weeks Annual Leave.

The successful applicant must:

  • Possess a demonstrable passion for food
  • Have no issue with following & giving directions
  • Have the ability to work independently & within a team
  • Be an excellent multi-tasker with good initiative
  • Have excellent inter-personal skills & maintain a calm demeanour in high-pressure situations and use these traits to perform well in a team
  • Be open to having input into seasonal menu design and on-going dish development
  • Seek to further their skillset and food knowledge by showcasing local produce
  • Have a high standard of food hygiene, safety, infection control and cleanliness.

The role on offer is a full-time position sitting within an established team, with long-term goals and new opportunities on the horizon. You will be required to work split shifts, weekends, public holidays and be available for Christmas Day

Your responsibilities in the kitchen will include but not limited to:

  • Overseeing delivery of stock of food, equipment supplies and completing purchase orders
  • Ensuring freshness and quality in the ingredients and preparation of meals
  • Prepare and cook foods for dining and function service
  • Implementing and enforcing hygiene regulations and examining equipment for cleanliness
  • Food stocktaking procedures and waste management
  • Day to day temperature check
  • Manage the team of kitchen staff during service when required

The position is not limited to qualified chefs with a Certificate IV and a Diploma of Hospitality, but without the above qualifications you will be required to have a minimum of three years' experience working in busy kitchens.
