It's an exciting time to join the City of Gold Coast in this permanent role, responsible for supporting the Executive General Manager (EGM) Planning, Regulation and Service Gold Coast.

You will be a valued member of a small team supporting the EGM with their day-to-day responsibilities and ad-hoc requests in addition to ensuring office governance, processes and solutions are fit for purpose for efficient management of the department and the EGM's Office.

About Your New Role
The Strategic Business Advisor helps ensure the Office of the EGM (OEGM) is operating efficiently and effectively, meeting all deadlines, actions and responsibilities.

Responsibilities Also Include

  • Establishing effective governance arrangements and processes to support the department and the OEGM.
  • Support the department's Council and Committee reporting requirements (education, advice, quality control, coordination, scheduling and managing the department's registers and actions)
  • Planning, developing and implementing EGM and department communication, awards and engagement activities when required.
  • Developing and managing operational procedures, work practices and technology solutions to support the OEGM and department operations.
  • Leading small improvement projects for the OEGM and represent the department on corporate projects when required.
  • Working with branch representatives and stakeholders to resolve issues, implement improvements and coordinate department responses and submissions.
  • Provide advice and guidance on responsibilities managed by the OGEM and department standards and processes.
  • Developing reports, memos and briefing notes.

We're Looking For People Who

  • Hold a bachelor's degree qualification in Public Administration, Government, Communications or a related field, combined with extensive experience in a comparable role.
  • Have significate experience in Local Government and understanding of Council decision making processes and legislative obligations.
  • Have outstanding organisational abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Have exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to consult with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Are highly proficient in preparing reports, memos and briefing notes.
  • Have the ability to manage competing priorities, with the ability to organise and prioritise work, to deliver expected outcomes in a timely manner.
