Your role The IT Technical Release Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the deployment of software releases across multiple environments. This role ensures that releases are delivered on time, within scope, and with minimal disruption to business operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and a deep understanding of software development and deployment processes.

About your group The Digital, Technology and Information group develop and implement strategic technology framework to maximise the value of technology related business investments that assist to achieve corporate and operational goals. This group takes the lead on implementing energy management systems and technologies, as well as supporting the development of new technologies that deliver efficiency and connectivity.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and manage all aspects of the release lifecycle, including scheduling, coordination, and communication.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, project teams, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure successful release execution.
  • Maintain and improve release processes, tools, and documentation.
  • Ensure all release-related risks are identified, communicated, and mitigated.
  • Coordinate release readiness reviews, go/no-go decisions, and post-release retrospectives.
  • Manage version control and release documentation, including release notes and deployment guides.
  • Monitor and report on release metrics and KPIs.
  • Support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
  • Ensure compliance with change management and governance policies.

Qualifications and experience Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT release management, software development, or DevOps.
  • Proven experience in ICT Release Management or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of ICT and OT environments, including applications, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Experience working across program and project teams, service operations, suppliers, and customers.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes (particularly Release, Change, and Configuration Management).
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple releases simultaneously.
