A bit about the role
We're looking for a dynamic Communications Officer to join our Communications Team at the City of Casey on a full-time permanent basis. You'll work 40 hours per week and enjoy the benefit of a monthly rostered day off (RDO).
You'll support the Mayor and Councillors by attending events to capture photos, videos, and stories, drafting social media content, and writing speeches.
Working closely with the Office of the Mayor and Councillors, you'll help deliver communications that strengthen community understanding of Council's services and achievements.
What you'll deliver
- Managing event attendance to capture photos, videos and story opportunities involving the Mayor and Councillors.
- Drafting social media content for Councillors' activities to be used on Council's official channels.
- Supporting the speechwriting needs of the Mayor and Councillors, ensuring consistent tone and alignment with Council messaging.
- Developing regular content for e-newsletter, enhancing information flow between Councillors and the organisation.
- Coordinating with the Office of the Mayor and Councillors to plan, schedule, and align communications in line with Council priorities and engagement opportunities.
What you'll bring
- A degree in Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations; or a diploma combined with relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of qualifications, skills, and experience aligned to the requirements of the role.
- Demonstrated experience in creating, editing and managing content for digital channels including social media, websites, eDMs (electronic direct mail), and video, with the ability to tailor messaging to suit diverse audiences and platforms.
- High level written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience in preparing effective written communications, for a broad range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience to craft and adapt speeches for different audiences.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset and a can-do attitude.
