About BBQ School

BBQ School is a national cooking school and events company delivering premium BBQ and culinary experiences across Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra, Perth, and the Hunter Valley. Our mission is to create fun, engaging, and hands-on events that bring people together through food — while delivering impact for our valued brand partners.

We are seeking a motivated and highly organised Operations & Event Assistant Manager to join our team. This hybrid role blends operational coordination with hands-on events (weekdays) and kitchen support (weekends & weekdays), ideal for someone who enjoys variety and isn't afraid to get involved on the ground.

As the Operations & Events Assistant, you will:

  • Support daily operational and production functions across the business
  • Assist in planning and delivering premium events and classes
  • Provide hands-on support in the kitchen during classes and events, including preparation, plating, cleaning, and stock coordination
  • Coordinate logistics, stock movement, and event setup across multiple venues

This position suits someone who enjoys a mix of office-based organisation and hands-on practical work. Weekend availability is essential for our public cooking classes and events. A valid driver's licence is required, as there may be occasional transportation and coordination duties. A company vehicle can be provided for these.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations & Administration

  • Maintain weekly inventory of event equipment and retail stock
  • Keep office, storage, and event areas organised and ready for use
  • Manage post-event tasks: replenishing kits, restocking, and preparing for future sessions
  • Coordinate sourcing and distribution of supplies, ingredients, and sponsor materials
  • Assist in scheduling staff and ensuring class requirements are met
  • Support weekly team communication, logistics updates, and feedback reporting

2. Event Support & Kitchen Assistance

  • Assist with event setup, guest check-in, and on-site coordination
  • Provide back-of-house kitchen support including prep, plating, cleaning, and resetting between sessions
  • Conduct stock checks and assist with venue pack-down and restocking after events

About You

  • Previous experience in operations, events, or hospitality (recent graduates with relevant experience are welcome)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills; ability to multitask effectively
  • Confident communicator who thrives in a team environment
  • Reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Physically capable of supporting hands-on kitchen and event setup tasks
  • Weekend availability required
  • Valid driver's licence required

The Perks

  • Join a growing national team with a collaborative, community-driven culture
  • Gain exposure to a wide range of events and operations
  • Opportunities for professional growth into senior operational or event management roles
  • Work for a brand that celebrates food, people, and shared experiences
