About the Role
We're looking for an experienced, values-driven Grade 2 Occupational Therapist to join our Adult Inpatient Unit (Unit 1) at Dandenong Hospital, a dynamic part of Monash Health's Mental Health Program. In this role, you'll provide high-quality, client-centred occupational therapy services to adults experiencing acute mental health challenges.
You'll play a key role in:
- Delivering front-line occupational therapy services to mental health consumers
- Advocating for client rights
- Coordinating discharge planning and community liaison
- Providing clinical supervision and mentoring to junior staff and students
You'll work collaboratively with a passionate multidisciplinary team, including medical, nursing, allied health, and lived experience professionals to provide targeted treatment that optimises recovery.
This is a fast-paced, rewarding position requiring flexibility, a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, and a passion for recovery-focused mental health practice.
About Us

Our Mental Health Program spans inpatient, community, and specialist services across five LGAs – Casey, Cardinia, Greater Dandenong, Kingston, and Monash.
Unit 1 – Dandenong Adult Inpatient Unit is a 25-bed acute mental health ward providing timely and evidence-based interventions for consumers in crisis. The team operates with a strong commitment to recovery, family-inclusive practice, and holistic care.
About You
You're a highly motivated Occupational Therapist with experience in mental health or related fields. You're confident working with providing evidence-based, best practice occupational therapy assessments and interventions for a diverse range of mental health issues experienced by clients in the service. You thrive in a collaborative environment and have a proven track record of making meaningful contributions to multidisciplinary teams.
To be considered, you must have:
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapist or Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or equivalent
- Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – Occupational Therapy, with no restrictions (cannot have a non-practising registration.
