Project Overview
Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.

The M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India, and other project locations around the world.

Job Summary
In this role, you will participate in subcontract formation and/or administration. Contract formation includes leading preparation and review of bid request packages and developing project contracts operating procedures. Contract administration includes continual progress review, forecasting, and communication of difficulties. Your work will ensure contract compliance with project requirements.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities
Contract Management

  • Implements the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule which records the Project's agreed assignment of various subcontract management tasks and the Standard Work Process Procedures applicable to Subcontract Management
  • Manages assigned contracts maintaining a continual review of progress and providing management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties
  • Coordinates with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, contract performance, and other major matters
  • Manage moderately complex contract changes by negotiating with customer personnel and obtaining settlement

Contract Formation

  • Conforms and ensures contract execution
  • Directs negotiation in the commitment of contracts
  • Develops and issues contracts and services agreements as assigned
  • Prepares bidders' lists and pre-qualifies bidders
  • Forms bid request packages and issues bid request packages to approved bidders
  • Coordinates bidders' questions and answers to those questions
  • Receives bids and evaluates bids commercially
  • Prepares Commercial Bid Summary and recommendations
  • Recommends and secures approvals in accordance with established procedures
  • Prepares subcontract documents for execution
  • Prepares and organizes assigned meetings, such as pre-bid, bid clarification and pre-award meetings, for the purpose of ensuring complete understanding and agreement between Bechtel, the customer and contractor on all contractual matters

Education And Experience Requirements
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge And Skills

  • Experience in formation and contract administration management of large, moderately complex construction contracts and services contracts.
  • Demonstrated skills in working and communicating effectively with all levels of project functional groups.
  • Experience in a wide range of contract types and associated pricing arrangements.
  • Experience in change management procedures pertaining to Requests for Information (RFIs), change notices, change orders, amendments, and claims and dispute resolution.
  • Experience in negotiating terms and conditions, and variations.
